“…Thank you so much for including myself and Prue in Monday’s cooking class. It was a very generous gift. Prue and I had a wonderful day. It was a chance too for us to catch up with lots of chat on the way to and from Te Puhi.
I often feel I have become a bit stale in my cooking so it was a great opportunity to be reinvigorated with new recipes and some short cuts to old favourites.
I honestly can’t wait to try all the recipes out. Each one has its own merit but I think making the ricotta and producing it for my sister-in-law when we visit for dinner sometime soon will be impressive.
Everyone else enjoyed the day too – filling a bag with lemons, making the lemon curd, then out wandering the property and meandering around, learning
about the trees and your own garden history as well as the past and then finally filling the baskets full of ripe sweet smelling tomatoes, eggs, cabbages etc. A real treat when you live on a slope, to walk around a flat garden and where any vegetables that survive the wind and the recent rains is silver beet.
… Lovely images floating through my head as I type this of the colours of Te Puhi, the shelves laden with books, wise words framed around the rooms, the chooks all gathered around the scraps, the cats enjoying each other and leaping for the white butterflies, the field mushrooms, the fresh smells of mint, herbs and lemons…..I could go on forever.
Thank you very much Mary for a memorable day”.
